Once a relevant dataset has been identified and collected it is then necessary to process it. This step ensures all Electronically Stored Information (ESI) within the data set is identified, extracted and indexed, according to clients’ requirements, in order to make it searchable for keywords and phrases. Using industry-leading tools such as Nuix to process data enables CCL to identify hundreds of file types from a wide range of IT infrastructures for searching.
Additional processing options include Optical Character Recognition (OCR) of scanned documents from electronic or hardcopy sources. All of our tools can operate remotely which means processing can be completed on-site with no down-time.
Searching and Filtering
At this stage the identified dataset can be searched, filtered and grouped using criteria such as document type, names of email senders or recipients and keywords. It is possible, during this phase, for emails to be linked into discussion threads so that primary and peripheral participants can be identified. The aim of this step is to find a sensible and reasonable review pool.
As part of our standard service we will work with you to find your keywords and ensure they operate in the optimum way. We provide a keyword syntax report allowing full transparency of our process and a subsequent report of results is also produced.
Prior to searching and review, data is automatically de-duplicated so you will never see the same document twice and, in compliance with a key part of the CPR, you can be certain you will not disclose duplicate documents, saving you time and money whilst limiting risk.
